Student Insurance Bill Vetoed

House Bill 103 has been vetoed by Governor Rick Perry as of Friday. The bill would have required universities with 20,000 students or more to bill those students’ private insurance for any care received on campus.

Health Insurance Statistics

In 2007, the CDC released national statistics of people lacking insurance. The information came from interviews of more than 100,000 households across the nation. That study showed some unfortunate numbers.

Insurance Change

Employees of Texas Tech and state workers in the Lubbock area will receive a change to their insurance packages. The changes will take effect September 1 when employers switch insurance carriers to allow employees to use non network providers at a higher out of pocket cost.

Free Clinics Receive Donations

Three free clinics in north Texas have received grants from the Dominion Foundation. The Agape Clinic, Plano Children’s Medical Clinic and Healing Hands Ministries all received $5,000 from the philanthropic foundation.
