Over 46 million Americans are uninsured with 8 million of those children. In Texas alone, there are 5.5 million uninsured, 1.5 million of whom are children. This is unfortunate as studies show that investment in children’s health insurance has great benefits.

The research shows that uninsured children cost about $15,500 per male child and $11,600 per female child. The federal government is paying 73 cents of every dollar spent in CHIP which now covers about 83,000 more Texas children.
