Health insurance in Texas is not very common among adults. Some figures show that only about half of the population in the state is covered by health insurance. Unfortunately, this means that adults without insurance do not have coverage for their children.
Because of this, the state has recently expanded the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, to cover about 80,000 more children. However, there are still a large number of both adults and children who do not have coverage.
