Texas health insurance premiums outpace earnings

Family health care insurance premiums rose between four and five-times faster that earnings from 2000 to 2009 for Texas workers. The findings were reported by the consumer advocacy group, Families USA.

Over 1/4 of Texans Uninsured

A Census Bureau report that came out Thursday shows that over a quarter of Texans are without health insurance. The report takes a two year average ending in 2008, showing a total of 5.9 million Texans without insurance. That’s 25.1% of all Texas residents.

Uninsured Children in the Southwest

Statistics from the US Census Bureau show that the highest percentages of uninsured children occur in the southwest. New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas all have 14% or more of their children uninsured.
